Default I don't feel like talking vs I 'm not in a mood to talk

Hello .

would you please tell me if there is any difference between the two sentences and which one is more common?

- I don't feel like talking to him
-I 'm not in a mood to talk to him.

Thanks a lot.

I agree with S that I like the second one better. Although 'the mood' is a slightly better article choice as 'a mood' suggests he's 'in a mood, one of several, and probably just a moody person in general.'

As for difference? It's just a subtle shift in emphasis because you've changed position of your negation (you 'not' contraction. (e.g. 'don't' to 'I'm not')). 'I don't...' comes across as less harsh and less determined than 'I'm not...'
