I was proof reading a paragraph I wrote and started pondering:
Does it matter if I use aloud and out loud interchangeably? Am I suppose to be using aloud every time or certain times. Basically, I perplexed myself.

I think it would be a stylistic choice. What tone are you trying to establish?
"out loud" has a rough edge.
"For crying out loud, Lucille! Quit nagging me."
It also has an emphatic quality.
"I want you to read that paragraph again, out loud."
Aloud is more matter-of-fact, less intrusive.
"The teacher had the children take turns reading aloud."

The sentence was pretty nuetral, matter-of-facty.
"The psychologist read the note aloud."
Thanks btw.
