I just realized my "Hi" post got eaten by the InterWeb gremlins.
So... here it goes again.
Hi, my name is Silke and I am a writer.
(I sound like I should join Writers Anonymous...)
I'm uh... old enough to know better, and not old enough to fall off my perch just yet. My home is about 20 miles outside London, in the UK.
I've been a storyteller all my life, whether I've told anyone those stories in writing, or told them to myself -- the wheels of my imagination never stop clanking away.
My earliest memory of writing fiction dates back to age 8, when my school teacher told my mother to take me to a shrink, because I'm "not right". It took me almost thirty years to admit to anyone how my writing process works, because of one ignorant, closed-minded teacher.
It took overhearing a perfect stranger at a neighboring table in a cafe tell her friend that she "writes it down the way she sees it in her head" to make me realize I am not alone in this. Others have movies in their heads too, listen to their characters and watch them perform. That's how a story comes to me. I see it. Full color, full audio, the works. It never stops.
I've long since learned to take this movie ability as a blessing, rather than a curse. Though it's darn distracting sometimes. :)
Oh yeah, I write Paranormal and Fantasy Romance. I tried the straight stuff and it always turned into a love story, so here I am. That's what I write. Lovestories with lots of monsters and creepy things that go bump (or squish) in the night.
