OK some tips to write more effectively (and efficiently).

1. Write a bit every day. It can be 10 or 30 minutes, a poem or an essay, just make it a habit.

2. Read a lot, and good books. That is, you need to read stuff where the author will teach you something about how to write well.

3. Pay attention to the style and techniques of others and incorporate those into your own writing.

4. Master the basics of grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Anyone else got points to add to the list?

Besides having the traditional red pen handy to edit my mistakes, I also like to use a green pen to underline all the parts I like about my work.

Hello everybody,

Writing is one of the most important and ever lasting skill. We get aware of its importance every time. I'd like to add that thanks to writing we're able to develop other productive skills.
Yours,
Katia

Also practicing a lot will help you find your "voice" as a writer. Read a bunch of articles from your favorite writer and you'll start to notice what their slant is. Some of my favorite writers are Hunter S Thompson, Ralph Wiley and Bill Simmons. All have a distinct writing style: Thompson (anti-establishment), Wiley (cool and inspirational), and Simmons (self-deprecating and passionate):p. All have different writing backgrounds and a common one (sports) and the first 2 are deceased. Hopefully Bill stays with us a little while longer.
