What do you think?

I think contests/challenges are always fun. Poetry is not my thing, and I rarely write short stories (I'm a novelist) but they can be fun and a great distraction when needed. They can also give you a great amount of experience.

I'm quite addicted to short story competitions, so I'd probably give it a go! :-)

Would there be prizes..?

Yeah we could add some prizes. I will give it some though.

I would be interested in the contest. Sign me up. :)

I think 6,000 words is a reasonbale limit. Unless you want the stories lighter, so that they're easier to check.

6,000 seems quite long for a competition story? Most of the ones I enter are anywhere from 1,000 - 3,000.

If you're publishing them online, too, I think people's attention span is inevitably shorter...

You're making a good point, Ali, yeah. It's just me - I feel better in longer form for some reason, but your suggestion is more sound and I concur.
