I'm writing an article and I can't seem to remember which is the correct way:
4 foot-wide
4 foot wide
4-foot wide
4-foot-wide
Thanks!

I would go with "four foot wide".

Often style manuals say to spell number at ten or below.
Is it four wide - no;
Is it feet wide - no;
therefore, it is four-feet wide.

Yep, I would go with four-feet wide too.

I'm afraid I have to be a dissenting voice here and say I'd go with "it is four feet wide."
Here's an example from the Chicago Manual of Style:
She is five feet nine (or, more colloquially, five foot nine).
