Post edited because it contained promotional content. Currently we are not allowing it.

Hey guys, let me know if you think we should allow these type of "job openings" to be posted.

If there are many of them I might create a special section also, like a marketplace.

If you decide to allow them, please keep the unpaid listings like this separate from the paid ones. Thanks!

I think such postings should be kept out of this forum. If someone asks, from information point, we should share the links of such websites where people can explore more. But, keeping such job postings will divert ther forum from its original purpose.

Your another suggestion of keeping them in seprate head is also good. But then such postings should not be flooded.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to apologize if I have in some way spammed the writing forum. I am a subscriber to DWT and love both the site and the forum. When I saw there was a "Freelance Writing" section, it seemed to be the best place in the forum to post.

I'm just a guy looking for contributors for a blog I'm starting. I know there are plenty of writers who would love to contribute because they like the message of the site, because they are trying to build their portfolio of published work, or because they just want to know someone is reading what they're writing.

I know there are plenty, because I get lots of responses.

And yet, everywhere I turn other writers, who are not interested in the site or contributing are trying to keep interested writers from doing so.

I post ads on Craigs List and it gets flagged and removed every time by the users. Why? Because 'its a web site and it doesn't require locals and thus is not in the spirit of Craigs List.' Or because it is an unpaying gig; however this is not against the site's TOS.

I tell you this not to attack you, but to ask for your suggestions. Not on Craigs List, not on the forum of a popular site for writers. If not here, then where do you suggest I look?

I appreciate your time and patience,
Andrew

Andrew, thanks for explaining.

Right now we will not allow ads for writing jobs, but we might add a marketplace in the near future if enough people express interest in that.

On the mean while, check out the job board on freeelanceswitch.com, it is one of the best I have used so far, and its free.

Hi Andrew,

ProBlogger also has a jobs board where bloggers advertise -- you might want to give that a try. Not sure how well it would go down if it's unpaid though. I've also seen people advertise on Gumtree for similar things (www.gumtree.com).

I've got a friend who might be interested (a guy in his 20s, blogs, did journalism post-grad degree) -- drop me an email to ali@theofficediet.com about the job and I'll pass it onto him.

Would offer to write for you myself but (a) I'm a woman in my 20s and (b) I've got too many paying writing gigs on at the moment!

Cheers,

Ali
