If you are looking for a style guide, check out this PDF from BBC. It touches on most punctuation issues, as well as some typography.

Also, if you have a better or newer guide, or a link to one, please share with us.

I'm a big fan of the Economist Style Guide (http://www.economist.com/research/styleguide/), which is available online. There's no pdf version that I'm aware of, but you can purchase an extended book form online for 17 pounds - a bit pricy IMO.

One thing I particularly appreciate about the Economist magazine is the dry, slightly witty tone that all of their journalists seem to master - guess this is how to do it. The most helpful bits of the style guide for me have been the sections on "Americanisms" and the "Dos and Don'ts".

I heard about the Economist one before, but never considered purchasing it.

If you write a lot it does sound like a good resource to have though.
