Beautiful forum, Daniel!
I have no doubt I'll learn much more than I contribute.

Thanks Bruce, I am still tweaking the colors here and there, but I think the look is at least acceptable right now ;).

Wow. In on the ground floor!
Intro: I'm a freelance B2B copywriter working in Michigan. Looking forward to exchanging ideas here. Should be fun!
Hi. I'm a language teacher and HR manager in Hong Kong, and a hobby writer, although I have written several serious articles for some science journals - mostly in English, but also in German and Spanish.
I'm not a native English speaker, but I enjoy writing. I find most of the advice from DWT very useful and I enjoy 'healthy' discussions about interesting topics.
My wife is a professional 'medical' writer and we both would like to do some freelance writing in the future, plus I may think about publishing my short stories or even sit down and write a novel.

I'm a long-time writer and blogger (5+ years), and currently I work as a web designer for a telecommunications firm. I speak a few languages here and there (French, Spanish, Swahili, Portuguese), and find the intricacies of the English language to be most amazing. I've sort of fallen out of practice of writing much these days, and I'm looking to get back in the saddle.
Hello, I'm Who?, and I'm just a random schmuck--and a kid, no less!--who happens to have an unhealthy obsession with learning. English, though my native tongue, has always been something I have felt I could do to learn better, and then this website showed up--and now a forum, too--to consume what few minutes of my day remain after I've finished sleeping, randomly browsing Wikipedia, gaming and schoolwork for the day. Well, I'll be honest with myself: I won't be fighting to find minutes for this, I'll just cut them from schoolwork like I did to make time for everything else, too.
While I'm at it, I might as well add that I'm bound to make more than my fair share of mistakes. Considering the nature of this forum, I not only expect them to be pounced on, but would be rather bothered if they weren't pounced on. I'm here to improve, and to hell with Self-Esteem culture.

It still has that new forum smell, nice.
Great to meet you all, and it's nice to be not late for the party for once :D
Looking forward to learning and contributing (mostly learning) to the forum.

Hello.
My name is M(argaret) J(oan) Maddox. I have the unfortunate habit of going by more than one name. I may finally settle on M. J. Maddox, but at the moment I publish under various names.
As “Maeve,” I contribute to Daily Writiing Tips. As “Peggy Maddox” I write a weekly movie column for Bella Online. You can access my page directly at www.peggymaddox.com
As “Dr. Maddox” I have a site called www.americanenglishdoctor.com which is aimed at parents who are concerned about issues of public education and basic literacy.
I am fascinated by language and never tire of learning more about English and the different ways in which speakers in different parts of the world use it.
I love the feedback we receive from DWT readers and I think that the Forum is a great innovation on Daniel's part.

Welcome everyone. I am glad to see we have all sorts of backgrounds around; it will for sure enrich the discussion.
Hi all,
I am from Mumbai, India but shuttle between Mumbai and Tokyo on work. I work in the language services industry and my job requires me to focus on bringing new ideas--in order to constantly improve upon our English editing and education.
I stumbled upon the Daily Writing Tips blog only a few months back and think it is an excellent blog! Seeing the quality of comments on the blog posts, I think this forum too is going to be an excellent one!

This place is already beginning to fill up, and the paint on the walls hasn't even dried yet! Excellent job, DanielScocco and company!
I'm a domestic engineer, and former "professional" blogger for a local newspaper. I recently started a writing group at our library, and hope to pick the collective brain of everyone here as the need arises.

Hello Everyone,
I look forward to all the hints and tips all members will impart. I've started writing a book (the first of many I hope) and I find it a daunting process. I'm determined to complete it even if it kills me.

Hello! My name is Rhonda. I am on an indefinite leave from teaching to be a stay at home mom. I have been writing consistently for a few years have been researching the writing/online writing business for about a year and a half. I recently published my first essay in a small, local publication and I am currently testing the waters of writing for the web.
I like this website very much, and I am very appreciative of the genuine writing advice I get here from the experts.
My name is Ken and I am living in Thailand. I trained as a primary teacher in Scotland and worked there for the first six years of my career. I then moved to Hong Kong where I taught for twenty-four years. My wife is Thai so we moved to Thailand in 2004. I spend my time working with private students and doing supply teaching at a local language school.
I am fascinated by the development of English, particularly the way it is used by non-native speakers. It is particularly interesting to try to find answers to my students' questions regarding English usage.
I'm looking forward to hearing opinions from the wide range of members who have already joined this forum.
Orrabest,
Ken

Hi - I am so happy with what I've learned from Daily Writing Tips. One, no matter how old, or what profession, could always learn from others. Thank you all.
I used to do a lot of writing when I worked. I miss it now that I am unemployed. However, now that I have more time, I would like to learn more about "blogging". I guess I am a little backward when it comes to this forum and what this is all about. I hope to learn more about it in terms of what to blog about, where to publish a blog, etc. If anyone is able to help, I will be listening/reading.

I already love the idea of a DWT forum. I'm a teen blogger who really jumped into blogging better by reading the DWT blog, and it's been invaluable.
My name is Rio. I love DWT and visit most days now. I have recently got in to writing and am keen to improve and learn from others. The forum is great and I'm learning all the time. You'll be hearing a lot from me.
