I recently read an article that included this sentence -
Today many fewer are being killed and it is hard to make a moral distinction between the sides.
Is this good grammar?

It looks like there's no firm subject in the sentence, and 'many fewer' is too vague. Many fewer what? It reads like a sentence fragment, but it might make sense in context within a paragraph.

This sentence cannot be helped with a mere grammar fix.
It needs to be rewritten in order to convey what the writer means.
Many few of what? Should have noun or object there after few? :)
