I really liked the post An Englishman in New York and would like to learn more about the differences between US and UK English.

No, I didn't notice the article was written for a US English audience. I am English. Sounded great to me. So where is the big difference?

I know lots of the spelling differences and some other stuff, but what other main differences are there? And how would you approach writing to an American audience as oppose to an English one, in terms of style?

I'd say that most of the differences are relatively minor. Spelling is one. There are things we have different names for (hood/bonnet for the front of the car, diapers/nappies for that item that babies use). Some words or phrases may be more often used....

Ultimately, though, we use the same basic vocabulary and the same basic rules, and except for some slang (and some accents!), I think Americans and Brits can usually figure out what each other is talking about. I find the differences fascinating--it's like hearing someone speak with an accent--familiar but just a little different.
