Sorry to be pedantic, but here&#039;s a thought on the origin of the Ceasar nickname - since the gene for male pattern baldness runs through the mother&#039;s line, it seems unlikely that it could be linked to hereditary baldness traced to a distant male ancestor. (Incestuous unions in Roman times notwithstanding ;-)

I like Pliny&#039;s explanation.</description>
